Hazard statements H Print

Definition

A hazard statement is a phrase that describes the nature of the danger and the degree of danger that present a dangerous product. A mention of danger is attributed to a hazard class or category of dangers.

Codification of hazard statements

Hazard statements are assigned a unique alphanumerical code which consists of one letter and three numbers.

The lettre H (Hazard statement) is followed by three numbers:

  • The first number identifies the type of hazard.

    - "2" for physical hazards
    - "3" for health hazards
    - "4" for environmental hazards

  • The two following numbers can classify the hazards by intrinsic properties of the substance or mixture.

    - 200 à 210 : explosivity
    - 220 à 230 : flammabilit
    - ...
