DefinitionA precautionary statement is a phrase which describes recommended measures that should be taken to minimize or prevent adverse effects resulting from exposures to a hazardous product, or improper storage or handling of a hazardous product.
Codification of precautionary statementsPrecautionary statements are assigned a unique alphanumerical code which consists of one letter and three numbers. The letter P (Precautionary statement) is followeds by three numbers::
